RL Industries is certified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) to stamp dual laminate FRP vessels per the requirements of ASME RTP-1 Appendix M-12. The scope of our ASME certification includes vessels with mechanically bonded or chemically bonded thermoplastic linings (lining classification A).
Our thermoplastic welders use hot gas hand welding, hot plate butt fusion welding, and flow fusion welding to fabricate thermoplastic linings. We specialize in single heat pass flow fusion welding and maximize its use because of the high weld efficiency and consistent weld quality. Our welders are qualified per the requirements of ASME RTP-1 Appendix M-12 Article H. Welder qualification includes short term weld strength testing per ASTM C1147 (American Society for Testing & Materials). Our welders' certifications are material and process specific.
RL Industries uses press forming and vacuum forming technologies to fabricate thermoplastic linings. We specialize in the vacuum thermoforming of machine welded flat head and dished head linings. Vacuum thermoforming minimizes the total lining weld length and maximizes the use of machine made welds.
RL Industries is equipped to perform the critical ASTM tests required for FRP dual laminate fabrication. In-house testing includes short term weld strength testing per ASTM C1147, climbing drum peel testing per ASTM D1781, and in-plane shear testing per ASTM D3846. Our testing facilities are audited and certified under our ASME certification and are supervised by our on-staff professional engineers.
